I’m normally solid when it comes to remembering to set myibidder eBay snipe app, but i erred sports card universe. I erred.
I forget. As you know, I’m a proud Polish American girl dad… and as much as I love the hobby, Mrs. Freddy Find and my girls come first. They’ve been feeling under the weather so most of my hobby time has been replaced with Daddy time this week.
It’s not an excuse, just an honest recounting of my sports card failure. But instead of dwelling on the negative, let’s turn a negative into a positive and learn from our failures for future profit.
So what did I learn?
#1. PSA 10 2006-07 Topps McDonald’s All American Kevin Durant’s sold for $75 – $100 less than it was selling for at the beginning of October.

#2. A few flippers and collectors are panic selling after the Nets slow start. TAKE ADVANTAGE. It’s a long season and I fully expect James Harden to adjust to the new rules interpretation. The Nets will be legit NBA title contenders with or without Kyrie if KD and James Harden remain healthy.
#3. Firsts matter. The 2006-07 McDonald’s All American card is KD’s 1st Topps card + XRC. Historical significance will win in the end. Don’t let flippers and collectors sluggishness in recognizing the 2006-07 Topps McDonald’s All-American’s significance deter you.

#4. The 2007-08 Topps Rookie Set KD is currently selling for ~3.5x the 2006-07 Topps McDonald’s All-American.
PSA 10’s have to be more rare, right? NO. While the 07-08 PSA gem rate is lower — 17% to 39% for the 06-07 — there are 1,000+ more of the 07-08 Topps.
#5. So KD’s first Topps card is more rare and selling for less than 1/3rd of his 2007-08 Topps?
Yes.
Sounds like a good buy to me. Now I just gotta remember to set my sniper.
FREDDY FORECAST: There is no reason a PSA 10 2006-07 Topps McDonald’s All-American Kevin Durant isn’t going for $800 – $1,000 by the time he hangs it up.
You know who Kevin Durant is.
As always, I’m Freddy… and you’re welcome.
