eBay steal of the day – steph curry

today's ebay steal of the day is Steph Curry.
Steph Curry can’t believe the eBay steal of the day.

A fictitious discussion between myself and a disgruntled collector:

“Freddy, it’s not possible to get GOATS cheap anymore.”

It’s more difficult given the explosive growth of the last few years, but you can still find deals if you put the work in.

“Maybe a retired GOAT people have forgot about or one that is currently injured or past their prime.”

Yes. There are usually some fantastic buying opportunities in those situations, but it is possible to get deals on all-time great superstars playing at MVP levels.

“I don’t want a 7th year base optic “rookie”?

I still can’t believe people pay premiums on those cards. How about people marketing and selling LeBron “Laker Rookies”?

“Criminal.”

I agree.

I’d never advise those for investment purchases.

What if I told you there is a gem mint low pop blue chip rookie of a 2x MVP and 3x NBA world champion playing at an MVP level for less than $600, would that be something you’re interested in?

“No way.”

Way. Last night this happened.

“Bullsh&t. You photoshopped that.”

I did. But only to crop and add that nice little black border. The sale is real.

“The black border does make it look a little nicer.”

Thank you.

“What’s the pop on that?”

I’m glad you asked. BGS 9.5 gem mint pop is 277. There are only 14 Pristine 10s and 1 Black Label. There are 190 PSA gem mint 10’s. And being a 12 year old card of a global superstar these pop reports won’t be goosed very much in the future.

“Goosed?”

Pumped up. Increased.

“Why didn’t you just say that?”

Touche.

“These will definitely go up?”

There are no definites in our crazy world, but it’s a strong possibility. Put another way, if this card is worth much less in the future, the hobby has most likely returned to it’s mid-90s malaise.

“What if that happens?”

I’d stockpile them for the next boom in 20-25 years.

Appreciate your questions, fictitious disgruntled collector.

“You’re welcome.”

Hey. That’s my line. As always, I’m Freddy… and you’re welcome.
