Last night I committed a robbery… thankfully for my girls… or unfortunately depending on which day you ask them… it was totally legal.

If you‘ve watched the channel, or read the blog, you know how much I heart Donovan Spida Mitchell… and if you watched my last video, Base Cards Are Dead… maybe… then you also know how much I love low pop, hobby only gorgeous f-in’ base cards with scanty pops like Revolution.

Taking a quick peek at some combined gem pops will illuminate how radically different Revolution’s print runs are from Prizm’s, and how much lower the 2017-18 print runs were being the final year of the, “Hobby Wasn’t Cool Era.”

The base 2017 Donovan Mitchell Revolution rookie combined gem pop consists of: 

95 PSA 10s

20 BGS Gems 

5 SGC 10s.

Which gives us a combined gem pop of 120… downright scan-ty.

Now if we compare this Revolution base rookie gem pop to his Prizm base rookie gem pop you’ll see there are:

4,777 PSA 10s

1,157 BGS gems

42 SGC 10s.

Donovan Mitchell’s combined Prizm base rookie gem pop is 5,976.

Still somewhat sparse compared to the 21,410 combined gem base Prizm rookies of Luka Doncic and 31,481 combined gem base prizm Zion rookies, but definitely not scanty.

You guys and girls get it. 2017 print runs were much lower… and hobby only Revolution is printed much less than Prizm…

… and looks much, much better in my opinion.

So if I told you I got one of the current 120 base Revolution Donovan Mitchell gem mint rookies for less than $50… you’d probably say, that’s a great f-in deal!

But what if I told you it wasn’t a base card?

What if I told you it was actually one of the 9 parallels?

And if there are only 120 base revolution gems… how many gems of this flamboyant foil groove parallel are there?

Only 16 combined gems from PSA, BGS, and SGC of a 25 year old 3x All Star of a perennial title contender who is an absolute MONSTER in the playoffs!

Will the Jazz win a championship as presently constructed?

Probably not with Rudy Gobert getting exposed by small ball lineups that neutralize his dominance in the paint.

BUT… NBA roster churn is at an unprecedented level and anything short of a Western Conference Finals appearance will most likely lead to some improvements around Donovan in Salt Lake City.

And if it doesn’t… something tells me Donovan will find a way out to a more attractive team and market in the not-too-distant-future.

Donovan Mitchell is built for playoff basketball. Now it’s just a matter of surrounding him with the right complimentary pieces.

I suggest buying these dirt cheap Revolution parallel beauties and reaping the potential rewards down the line. Leave the Bol Bols and Mo Bambas for the sheep.
